Easy Apple Cake
CREAM TOGETHER:

1 C. White Sugar
1 C. Brown Suger
1/2 C. Shortening
2 Eggs
ADD:

1 C Sour Cream
2 1/2 C. Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
2 tsp Soda
2 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Vanilla
STIR IN:

2 C. Shopped Apples
(3-4 medium)
CREAM TOGETHER & CRUMBLE OVER BATTER:

1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 C. Brown Sugar
1/4 C. White Sugar
1/2 C. Chopped Walnuts
1/4 C. Butter

Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
This cake doesn't need frosting because it has a streusel topping. It also freezes well, so you can have it on hand for unexpected company.

Here are a couple of things about apples that you might find interesting or helpful.
  • Place an apple in a bag with potatoes to keep the potatoes from budding.
  • Apples, not caffeine, are more efficient at waking you up in the morning ( and probably healthier too)
  • Place a slice of apple in the container with your brown sugar to keep the sugar soft. But don't forget to check it occasionally so the apple doesn't get moldy.
